POSTPONEMNENT OF GENERAL ELECTIONS: Be Calm, Wait For Swearing-In Of Atiku, Okowa On May 29 – Ejakpovi

EMEVOR/Nigeria: As the nation grapples with the effects of the postponement of the general elections by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), a chieftain of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Dr (Pharm.) Nelson Ejakpovi has urged Nigerians to be calm.
Dr Ejakpovi made the call made the call today, 16 February, 2019, at his residence in Emevor, Isoko North local government area of Delta State while addressing prospective voters who gathered to brainstorm on the way forward.
According to him, “we need to be calm, don’t be agitated or engage in any protest; let us wait for further directives from the electoral umpire; our greatest consolation should be in the fact that on May 29, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar will be sworn-in as our President and our Governor, Senator Dr Ifeanyi Okowa will take oath of office for second term as Governor till 2023.”
“The elections must hold and any time that INEC is ready, we shall vote for our candidates, the candidates of the PDP, our umbrella party,” Dr Ejakpovi who is the Chairman, Governing Council, Delta State School of Health Technology said, adding, “the postponement could have been made to elicit violent reactions, but, we are Nigerians, our elasticity to be patient and calm cannot be exhausted, our eyes are fixed on the goal because, the hours have come upon us.”
He continued, “our Governor, Dr Okowa is a man of peace, so, let us be peaceful and hold on to our permanent voters cards, don’t allow anyone to deceive you, members of the All Progressive Congress (APC) are aware that the game is over, they are afraid, but, we are all Nigerians, the interest of the nation supersedes personal interests, they will concede defeat just as the PDP did in 2015.”
Dr. Ejakpovi commended the roles Governor Okowa has played to cement the bond of unity in the state which has consolidated on the gains of the PDP as a political party.
At an earlier meeting convened by Dr Ejakpovi, Community Youth Leader of Emevor Ward 7, Mr Efemena Itugbru thanked Dr Ejakpovi for being at home with his people at all times, observing that his speech doused a lot of tension while Mrs Beauty Edowarie stated, “if they like let them postpone the elections, we will vote for PDP all the way, through our son, Dr Ejakpovi, we have benefited a lot from Governor Okowa’s administration. ”
The prospective voters who had cancelled all engagements as a result of the elections were entertained by Dr Ejakpovi.
Chieftains of the party in the area, Prof. Saliba Mukoro, Bar. Paul Emerhana, Chief Hon. Peter Ibiri, Mr. Louis Okha, Mr. Peter Otuata, Mr. Makava Sunday, Hon. Lucky Okeremu, Mr. Patrick Edhede, Mr. Isaiah Ekwerugbe, Mr. Nathaniel Palmer, amongst others too numerous to mention attended the meeting where it was resolved that candidates of the PDP would be voted for in the elections.
