Power Tussle: Ovade–Oghara People Protest, Calls for the Removal of the Youth Leader.

The people of Ovade-Oghara Community in Ethiope West Local Government Area of Delta State have protested around the streets of the village, demanding the immediate removal from office of a youth leader Mr. Ejiro Efetobor for offences they alleged ranges from high handedness, insubordination, corruption, embezzlement, forceful imposition of self on the people, kidnapping, selfishness amongst others.

The Chairman of the Community, Mr. Hitler Igbakpa and the new youth leader, Mr. Wilson Elisha and others, said in their separate speeches, during the protests said that Mr. Ejiro
has been parading himself as the youth leader of the village, forcefully over a decade and has refused all entreaties for him to step down for another youth to take over the affairs of the community.

The protesters bearing the inscription “Ovade Community Say No to Ejiro Efetobor, Ejiro Efetobor must go, Ovade Women say no to Ejiro Efetobor and his cohorts, Ejiro Efetobor is not our Youth Leader, we no need Ejiro Efetobor in Ovade Community, the elders say no to Ejiro
Efetobor, Ovade Youths say no to Ejiro Efetobor”, explained that since the beginning of the said Ejiro Efetobor administration, the community has never known peace because they have experienced all round crisis since he came on board.

Mr. Igbakpa and others listed some of the sins of Mr. Ejiro Efetobor to include, diversion of the community bus provided them by Pan Ocean Company operating in the area to his personal use, embezzlement of community’s fund from Pan Ocean, Xmas rice/ a cow by DESOPADEC Managing Director and the conversion of the community’s rubber plantation to his personal property as well as indiscriminate arrest of persons without genuine reasons to Abuja.

They maintained that even though they have met and elected their new youth leaders, yet Ejiro is still using government apparatus to fight and intimidate them daily, hence they resolve that since he has now become a thorn on their flesh, he should go for them to have a permanent peace in their community, more importantly since they never benefitted anything from his leadership other than trouble.

They therefore appealed to the Monarch and all relevant agencies including the Governor of Delta State to prevail on Mr. Ejiro Efetobor to step down as the leader so that their community can forge ahead with the crops of the new leadership they have put in place led by Mr. Hitler Igbakpa and Mr. Elisha Wilson for the youths.

Meanwhile, all efforts to contact Mr. Ejiro Efetobor to get his comment on the allegations leveled against him were not successful as he was said to have travelled on a business trip to Abuja.
