ASABA/Nigeria: A Catholic Priest, Rev. Fr. Solomon Ugwummadu has urged Christians to avoid any form of distraction while engaging in the work of God.
He made the call on Tuesday October 8, 2019 at a homily he delivered during the celebration of the Holy Mass at the Catholic Church of the Ascension, Asaba.
According to him, when you are in the church or engaging in the work of God, the devil uses every form of distraction for you not to concentrate.
Quoting from the book of Luke 10: 38-42, Fr. Ugwummadu observed that Martha was distracted trying to please the people, whereas, Mary was more interested in listening to Jesus Christ.
“The devil try so much to take you away from hearing the word of the Lord because, the word of the Lord is our shield; the devil uses every form of distraction but, always be prepared, be prayerful, read your Bible and listen to His words.
“Prepare for every day as if it is your last because, you don’t know the last minute.
“When you come for Mass, endeavour to go home with something, and this you can do when you listen to His words; as a Priest, I prepare for Mass every day as if it is my last.
“The word of the Lord is paramount, avoid distractions, have time to meditate on the words; don’t allow the devil to distract you from hearing or listening to the word of the Lord,” the Priest said.
The Holy Mass featured special birthday thanksgiving by Fidelis Egugbo.
