Eze Ndi-Igbo, Delta South and Delta Central zones of Delta state, His Highness (Sir) Peter Chukwu, has called on the people of Igbo stock to embrace peace and unity if they must make progress in the contemporal and competitive Nigerian political society.

The royal father gave the charge, Sunday 18 March 2018, in Warri while speaking to journalists at the formal inauguration of Hon. Mike Eze as the new President General of Ohaneze Ndi-Igbo, Delta South and Delta Central zones of the state.

Sir Chukwu advised Ndi-Igbo to shun infighting and enthrone peace, unity and love as a cherished virtue for enhancing socioeconomic and political growth of the people, saying, “Igbos will make remarkable progress if there is a change of attitude from stoking discord to embracing peace, love and unity among the Igbo people.”

Speaking on the place of Ndi-Igbo in the political leadership of Nigeria, the royal father noted that over the years, the political leaders of Ndi-Igbo had not gotten their acts right in the political administration of Nigeria. He called on the leading hands of Igbo politicians to get their calculations right in the next political dispensation.

“Igbo political leaders often miscalculate their political strategy and never hit their target. Looking at the plot on ground, I do not see Igbo presidency coming to fruition through the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

“I see Igbo alignment with the All Progressives Alliance (APC) as a better deal for Ndi-Igbo,” Eze Ndi-Igbo said

Speaking on the inauguration of Hon. Mike Eze as the new President General of Ohaneze Delta South and Central, the royal father said Ohaneze will move forward under the leadership of Hon. Mike Eze. He noted that the past administration was embroiled in contentious issues that limited its performance.

“The baton of leadership has moved to Ebonyi state and we have chosen the right leader in the person of Hon. Mike Eze. Ohaneze will move forward this time, it will progress fully. The last administration did not do well due to the challenges it encountered, resulting from infighting and avoidable rancour, but with the new President General taking over the mantle of leadership, we hope to get to the promise land this time,” Sir Chukwu stated.

The royal father debunked spurious statements by faceless persons that intend to malign his office. He stated strongly that the office of Eze Ndi-Igbo is lawfully and legally instituted, saying that unfounded statements by mischief makers calculated at disparaging the exalted office of Eze Ndi-Igbo will not see the light of day, even as he admonished them to turn a new leaf in the interest of peace and unity of Ndi-Igbo.
