President Bola Tinubu Appoints New CEOs for Key Parastatals in Marine and Blue Economy Sector

ABUJA/Nigeria: In a significant move aimed at advancing the objectives of the Renewed Hope Agenda’s Blue Economy strategy, President Bola Tinubu has given his nod to the appointment of two new Chief Executive Officers for crucial Parastatals and Agencies under the Federal Ministry of Marine and Blue Economy. This decision aligns with the recommendations of the Honourable Minister, H.E. Adegboyega Oyetola, to enhance the sector’s efficiency and revenue generation.

The newly appointed CEOs are:

Managing Director / CEO, National Inland Waterways Authority (NIWA) – Alhaji Munirudeen Bola Oyebamiji

Executive Secretary / CEO, Nigerian Shippers’ Council (NSC) – Mr. Akutah Pius Ukeyima

Alhaji Munirudeen Bola Oyebamiji brings a wealth of experience to his new role. A graduate of Banking and Finance, he holds a Master’s degree in Public Administration and Business Administration. With over 28 years of industry experience, he has a strong background as an Economist. His public service career includes a successful tenure where he reversed the downward trajectory of the Osun State Investment Company Limited, followed by eight years of service as the Osun State Commissioner of Finance.

Mr. Akutah Ukeyima, the newly appointed Executive Secretary / CEO of the Nigerian Shippers’ Council, holds a Law degree and a Master’s degree in Public International Law from Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria. Prior to this appointment, he served as the Head of the Central Authority Unit, International Cooperation in Criminal Matters, Office of the Attorney-General of the Federation.

President Bola Tinubu has urged these new appointees to the forefront of this vital sector to faithfully implement the policies and programs outlined by the Honourable Minister, as part of the Blue Economy strategy within the Renewed Hope Agenda. The focus remains on achieving bolstered revenues and investments while ensuring expeditious and efficient growth in this pivotal industry.
