Press Week Milestone: NUJ Warri Unveils Secretariat Donated by Tantita

The Warri Correspondents’ Chapel of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), Delta State, newly built and fully furnished permanent secretariat.

WARRI/Nigeria: The Warri Correspondents’ Chapel of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), Delta State, is set to inaugurate its newly built and fully furnished permanent secretariat on Friday, June 27, 2025, courtesy of Tantita Security Services Nigeria Limited, a leading private security company based in Warri.

This milestone was announced in a joint statement signed by Comrade Dele Fasan and Comrade Akpokona Omafuaire, Chairman and Secretary of the NUJ Warri 2025 Press Week Committee, as the chapel commenced its annual Press Week with the theme: “Fight Against Oil Theft: The Impact of Private Security and Role of the Media.”

Governor Sheriff Oborevwori is expected to grace the occasion as Special Guest of Honour and will officially commission the Press Centre. The Vice Chancellor of the Federal University of Petroleum Resources (FUPRE), Prof. Ezekiel Agbalagba, will serve as Chairman of the occasion, while the Executive Director of Technical and Operations at Tantita Security, Captain Warredi Enisuoh, will deliver a keynote address on the theme.

As part of the week’s activities, a sensitization march tagged “NUJ Says No to Crisis in Warri” will take place on Thursday, June 26, with journalists taking to the streets to advocate peace in the oil-rich city. The highlight of the celebrations will be Friday’s commissioning of the Secretariat, followed by lectures and an awards ceremony.

Members of the chapel have expressed heartfelt gratitude to the Chairman of Tantita Security Services, High Chief Government Ekpemupolo (Tompolo), for his generous support in making the project a reality. Appreciation was also extended to the company’s Managing Director, High Chief Engr. Kestin Pondi, for his dedication and commitment to the development of the union.

In their statement, the chapel said, “We are in a joyous mood as history is being made, not only for our chapel but also for the NUJ across Nigeria. This gesture by Tantita Security Services is a record-breaking project that will never be forgotten. In appreciation, we have named the new Press Centre in honour of the Chairman of Tantita.”
