Private School Proprietors Appeal For Waiver, Reduction In Renewal Fees In Delta

OGWASHI-UKU/Nigeria: Private school proprietors, under aegis of Association of Private School Owners Of Nigeria ( APSON) , Delta State Chapter, have appealed to the Delta State Government for a waiver or reduction in annual renewal fees payable by them.

The appeal was contained in an address presented by the Chairman of the Delta State Chapter of APSON, Comrade Keno Emiaso, during the 96th general meeting of the body, held at the Nshiagu College Hall, Ogwashi-Uku in Aniocha South Local Government Area of the state.

“The period we are in now is quite challenging as we are trying to battle with the devastating effects of covid-19 pandemic that has wrecked our businesses.”

“Prices are being hiked in the face  of the hard economic situation we find ourselves, “ he added .

Comrade Emiaso disclosed that the relationship between APSON and her sister union, National Association of Proprietors of Private Schools ( NAPPS ) had become cordial with the settlement out of court of the 7 years legal dispute with NAPPS.

He however frowned at the unwholesome noncommittal attitude of nonpayment of levies and dues by some members at the zonal, state and national levels of APSON.

He advised members not to be distracted by some groups, which,  he accused of attempting to cajole members of APSON .

“They are trying to get cheap popularity; just be focused and remain steadfast.” He advised.

He seized the opportunity to appreciate members across the state who had contributed to the growth of APSON.

The Chairman of the body, Warri South Local Government Area Chapter, Honourable Mike Oritsewenyimi Eboh, who spoke to journalists , expressed appreciation to God for the huge success of the event, just as he lauded Comrade Emiaso for his leadership style that had taken the APSON to enviable heights.
