Prompt Response from Governor Oborevwori Brings Relief to Umeh Community …..As Member DTHA Isoko South Visits Community

UMEH/Nigeria:  The long-standing woes of Umeh community residents and motorists due to the deteriorated condition of the major road leading into the area may soon be alleviated. The State Governor, Rt Hon Sheriff Oborevwori, has issued a directive to Setraco Construction Company to commence the remediation of the failed portions of the road, bringing a glimmer of hope to the beleaguered community.

The road, which had turned into a nightmare for the inhabitants, became a priority for the state government after leaders of Umeh Community fervently appealed for assistance in restoring the road, which had been severely damaged by the ravaging flood in 2022.

In a bid to ensure the swift execution of the rehabilitation project, Hon Ferguson Onwo, the Member Representing Isoko South Two Constituency in the Delta State House of Assembly, visited the ongoing works on the road on Monday. As the immediate past Majority Leader of the House, Onwo expressed confidence in the government’s determination to expedite the project.

During his inspection of the ongoing intervention works carried out by the construction company, Onwo praised Governor Sheriff Oborevwori for his prompt response to the plight of his constituents. He highlighted the urgent need for remediation due to the deplorable state of the road, which was severely affected by the 2022 flood disaster.

While addressing the residents of Umeh Community, Onwo encouraged them to remain calm and cooperate with the construction company to ensure the timely completion of the project, especially before the next flooding season. He also urged the community members to refrain from engaging in activities that could tarnish the community’s image and instead support the government’s efforts in promoting peace, progress, and good governance in the state.

Furthermore, Onwo assured the community that the Oborevwori-led administration’s MORE agenda would bring about increased infrastructural development throughout the state. He promised that Umeh community would receive more dividends of democracy from the state government in the near future.

The President General of Umeh Community, Pastor Emmanuel Simeon, and other community leaders expressed their satisfaction with Governor Oborevwori’s swift response in ordering the immediate remediation of the road. They highlighted the significance of Umeh road as a vital link to neighbouring towns and villages in the Isoko nation, emphasizing the necessity of the state government’s intervention.

The leaders also expressed gratitude to Hon Ferguson Onwo and other political representatives in the locality for their relentless efforts in seeking a solution to the distressing situation.

Engineer Mark Egwulusor, a representative of the Delta State Ministry of Works, and Engineer John Akhasomhe, a representative of the construction company, assured the community that the project would be executed in accordance with the required specifications and within the stipulated timeframe.

The timely intervention by the state government to rehabilitate the failed portions of the Umeh road is expected to breathe new life into commercial activities within the agrarian community.
