UGBOLU/Nigeria: Delta State Commissioner for Special Duties (Government House), Dr. Ifeanyi Osuoza, has assured that the newly flagged-off Ugbolu-Okpanam Road project will be executed in full compliance with approved standards and specifications.

Dr. Osuoza gave the assurance during the groundbreaking ceremony of the 12-kilometre Ugbolu-Okpanam Road, performed by Governor Sheriff Oborevwori on Thursday, October 16, 2025, at the Ugbolu axis of the project site.

He said the project reflects Governor Oborevwori’s visionary and people-oriented leadership, adding that it aligns with the infrastructural development blueprint of the MORE Agenda. According to him, “The Ugbolu-Okpanam Road is a major link that will open up access between the two communities and boost socio-economic activities along the corridor.”

The Commissioner, who is supervising the project, explained that the road begins from the Asaba–Ugbolu–Illah Road, by the popular Ugbolu Market, and terminates at Uche Nwankwo Street in Okpanam. He noted that the project spans 12 kilometres, covering both the main alignment and adjoining roads, with a pavement width of eight metres and 1.5 metres of shoulders on either side.

Outlining the scope of work, Osuoza disclosed that construction activities will include site clearing, removal of unsuitable materials, earth filling, concrete drainage systems throughout the stretch, storm-water discharge drains, culverts, access slabs, crushed stone base, and two layers of asphalt surfacing.

He commended Levant Construction Limited as a competent civil engineering firm capable of delivering the project to specification, and appealed to residents of Ugbolu and Okpanam to cooperate fully with the contractors to ensure smooth execution within the stipulated timeframe.

Dr. Osuoza expressed deep appreciation to Governor Oborevwori for entrusting him with the supervision of the strategic road, describing the Governor as “a compassionate, empathetic, and people-centered leader.” He assured that he would monitor the project closely to ensure quality delivery, noting that the road corridor, which had long suffered severe erosion, will soon become a major access route linking communities and improving movement around the capital territory.
