Rear Admiral Akinrinade Takes over From Onaji as Flag Officer, Naval Logistics Command Oghara

OGHARA/Nigeria: A new flag officer (F.O.C) commanding the Rear Admiral Peter Onaji Oghara, Delta State Rear Admiral Akinjide Akinrinade has assumed duty while the former F.O.C Rear Admiral Peter Onaji has since been redeployed to the Command Headquarters as the new Chief of Naval standard and safety.

The departing F.O.C, Rear Admiral Peter Onaji in his address commended men and officers of the command for the corporation they accorded him seven months ago when he assumed duties at the command.

He praised the officers and men of the command for the highest standard of discipline and preparedness which enabled him achieved much success efficiently and professionally during his short moment in Oghara remarking that the logistics command established ten years ago has lived up to the challenges and responsibilities for which it was established under his watch.

“You have demonstrated the highest standard of discipline and preparedness that the Nigerian Navy project to the outside world”.

He remarked further that the logistics command has successfully supported the three Naval Commands Eastern, Western, and Central in their various command exercises where ships were deployed at sea to foster their constitutional roles of fighting crimes of oil theft, piracy etc stressing that all these were made possible due to the efficient conduct of the officers and men of the logistics command Oghara.

He reminded the civil society that the duty of combating oil theft, piracy, militancy on the water ways requires a collaborative effort.

Rear Admiral Onaji while handing over to his successor, said the officers have never been found wanting in any civilian cases/clashes in their host community, rather they have established a very peaceful and cordial relationship amongst themselves, while commending their sister security agencies in the area for a working synergy that has equally brought about a lasting peace in Oghara.

He enjoined the new F.O.C to uphold the task of the Nigerian Navy which is dedication and efficiency, noting that he has discovered in the new F.O.C his desire to uphold the highest standard of professionalism and competence.

The new F.O.C Rear Admiral Akinjide Akinrinade, while expressing his profound appreciation to the president and the Naval Chief for finding him worthy for his new assignment, pledged to build on the success story and achievements of his predecessor, assuring that he will do all it takes together with his team to move the command forward.

Speaking to the outgoing F.O.C, he said “whatever value you have added here, we will ensure we improve on it, we also know that the national threat is evolving and we will not relax on our part”.

Rear Admiral Akinrinade assured the officers that they will work together as a team.

“I assure the officers here that we will work together as a team, what I expect is loyalty, professionalism”.
