Asaba: The leadership of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) has commenced Skills’ Acquisition in six Geo-political Zones across the country for its corps members as measures to cushion the current economy recession.
Brigadier–General Sulaiman, Zakare Kazaure, Director-General of the NYSC who made this disclosure yesterday in Issele-Uku, Aniocha Local Government Area of Delta State and the permanent orientation camp of the corps’ members, observed in pains as tears enveloped the faces of the NYSC officials who accompanied him to the Camp on inspection, that the death of the three corps’ members dealt hard blows on NYSC, and cautioned the corps’ members against corruptions and indecent dressing.
He said “NYSC is very pained in the death of the three corps members, though a probe is already ongoing, but I want to say that it was a hard blow on NYSC, it is not easy to be corps’ members, it is all about National Integration.” and called on the Corps’ members to avail themselves the opportunity to contribute their Quota towards the development in whichever areas they find themselves during their service call.
Urging the Corps’ Members to be conscious of God, Brigadier General Zakare Kazaure enjoined them to be involved in assignments that will offer them rewards and not to be indulged in illicit activities that will jeopardize their chances as graduates and “leaders of tomorrow”.
His words: “As graduates, you should display characters that will lead you to successes and not short cut by involving in corruption, evil acts that will inhibit your contributions towards the developments of Nigeria, all hands must work together to tame corruption, Nigeria is our country, we have no other country”, disclosing that the leadership
of NYSC was working in collaboration with the Central Bank and others to create jobs for the corps’ members where they will after their service work without hitches in seeking employment.
Emphasizing the need for all hands to be on deck, the NYSC boss explained that gone were the days coppers roam the street in search of employment; rather schemes have been designed to provide employment after their service discharge with a view to making them relevant in the scheme of things.
He said, schemes have been designed for corps’ members who after their discharge from national assignment to be self reliance and contribute their quotas to the development of Nigeria, adding let us make Nigeria our country better, we need to work together and achieve successes” and warned corps’ members against lies while filling the on line NYSC Registration form where often they jettison a column indicating to known about their health status. “I don’t know why corps’ members don’t bother about the column of health, please always fill the space to help yourself, many of the corps’ members are sick, yet they pretend to be well, you will be treated and be allowed to serve where your parents/guardians will be seeing you if you are sick and filled the column”.
He further urged the corps’ members to add values in wherever they are posted to for their primary assignments, adding; “avoid unnecessary journey, night parties, indecent dressing, don’t dress like prostitutes, produce book for libraries and avoid standby deals.”
Earlier, the State Coordinator of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC), Mr. Benjamine Omotunde Ayodele while commending the corps’ members for well behaved since the orientation of Batch “B” stream I, 2016, disclosed that 2,420 corps members were cleared for the Batch, adding that fare vehicles on the fleet of the State Secretariat were grounded on assumption of office as the new co-coordinator as they have been currently repaired on the approval of the Director-General, Brigadier Zakare Kazaure.
He said, “There has not been evil reports, all corps’ members are healthy, Delta State Government has promised to renovates the NYSC camp and corps members presently serves in various Communities.”
