Rector Cares Foundation Launches Essay Competition for Lagos Students on Water and Sanitation Solutions

LAGOS/Nigeria: The Rector Cares Foundation has announced an essay competition for Senior Secondary School students in Lagos, focusing on innovative approaches to improving water and sanitation conditions in the state. The competition, titled “My Approach to Improving Water and Sanitation Conditions in Lagos,” is open to all SS1 and SS2 students, with a 2,000-word limit for entries.

The initiative aims to raise awareness on the critical issues surrounding water, sanitation, and hygiene (WASH), encouraging students to propose practical solutions to challenges such as water scarcity, sanitation deficiencies, and poor hygiene practices.

In a statement by Temidire Bada, spokesperson for the Rector Cares Foundation, the competition is designed to inspire young minds to think creatively about sustainable solutions to the water and sanitation problems facing communities across Lagos and Nigeria as a whole.

“We believe that the youth hold the key to solving many of our nation’s pressing issues. This competition is a platform for them to share their ideas and contribute to shaping a healthier future for Lagos,” Bada said.

Students interested in participating can register via the Foundation’s website at www.rectorcarefoundation.com. The competition will challenge participants to explore and propose ways to address water-related challenges, especially in underprivileged communities where access to clean water and proper sanitation facilities remains limited.

The Rector Cares Foundation has made addressing WASH issues a priority, recognising the link between water scarcity, poverty, and health outcomes. By engaging students, the foundation hopes to foster a culture of innovation and responsibility in tackling these critical challenges.
