ASABA/Nigeria: Hundreds of residents across Delta North Senatorial District have received free medical care following a comprehensive healthcare outreach organised by Senator Ned Nwoko, bringing relief and renewed hope to beneficiaries in several communities.

The latest phase of the outreach delivered medical services to residents of Agbor in Ika South Local Government Area and Ibusa in Oshimili North Local Government Area, with beneficiaries also drawn from surrounding communities who turned out in large numbers for the programme.

The two-day medical exercise featured a team of visiting doctors, nurses and other healthcare professionals who attended to men and women, young and old, addressing a wide range of health challenges. Beneficiaries received thorough consultations and treatment for ailments including eye and dental conditions, fever-related illnesses, hypertension and other common medical concerns.

Beyond routine consultations, the outreach also recorded surgical procedures and diagnostic X-ray services, reflecting the depth and impact of the intervention. The programme culminated in the distribution of free medications and eyeglasses, offering visible relief to many participants and easing the burden of healthcare costs on families.

The initiative drew an outpouring of prayers and commendations, particularly from elderly beneficiaries who expressed deep gratitude for the senator’s sustained intervention in grassroots healthcare delivery, describing the programme as timely and life-changing.

Addressing over 600 beneficiaries at the event, Senator Nwoko, who was represented by his Chief of Staff, Dr. Michael Nwoko, said the health and well-being of the people remained central to his public service. He reaffirmed his commitment to serving the best interests of Delta North residents, irrespective of ethnic, religious or political affiliations.

He further explained that while his constitutional responsibility at the National Assembly centres on lawmaking for good governance, he places strong emphasis on social welfare and infrastructure development as critical components for improving the quality of life of his constituents.

Recalling his campaign engagements during the 2023 Delta North Senatorial election, the senator noted that he pledged to deliver tangible improvements in the healthcare sector, particularly in rural and underserved communities, a promise he said he has steadily translated into action.

The first phase of the medical outreach, conducted in November 2023, reached over 500 beneficiaries across Idumuje-Ugboko, Umunede and Umusan. The second phase, held in September 2024, expanded the programme’s reach to more than 600 beneficiaries, further consolidating its impact and effectiveness.

In addition to providing free medical services, Senator Nwoko has donated medical equipment valued at millions of naira to several primary healthcare centres in Idumuje-Ugboko in Aniocha North, Agbor in Ika South, Asaba in Oshimili South and Kwale in Ndokwa West. The donated items included hospital beds and trolley stretchers, examination and delivery couches, nursery cots, test tube racks, syringes and stethoscopes, diagnostic kits, sterilizers, as well as dissecting and dressing forceps.

Complementary facilities such as refrigerators, generating sets, cookers, solar lamps, fire extinguishers, benches and chairs were also provided to strengthen healthcare infrastructure and improve service delivery at the grassroots.

Since his emergence at the National Assembly three years ago, Senator Nwoko has continued to earn widespread commendation from constituents across Delta North (Anioma), many of whom describe his representation as impactful, people-oriented and exemplary.
