Religious Intolerance and the Rest of Us

Religious IntoleranceBy Chimennma Okolo

Few days back I read that the Katsina State University via a circular has authorised Muslim mode of worship as the only approved mode of worship on its campus.

By this circular the University automatically outlawed any other form of worship e.g. Christian mode of worship.

I am bothered at the high level of religious intolerance amongst the Northern Muslims and the seeming support such intolerant attitude has from those in authority.

It should be obvious to any discerning mind that there is a deliberate plan to upend christendom in Nigeria especially the North of Nigeria.

I have not heard the sai baba chanting choir from the South condemn this obvious fascist action in a supposed citadel of freedom and education. They have shamefully remained silent.

I have also not heard any condemnation of such insidious action by the Christian Association of Nigeria CAN and or any of its affiliates.

I have not heard those who vociferously condemned Pastor Oyedepo and Apostle Johnson Suleiman condemn this act of brigandage against other religions.

I have not heard the Sultan and other Muslim clerics who suddenly found their voices and shouted themselves hoarse condemning and almost issuing a fatwa on Apostle Suleiman condemn this very evil act by the said university.

The Sultan has again suddenly lost his voice to call for the arrest of the Vice Chancellor or any other management staff of that university.

Why? Because they all support the action.

It’s that hypocritical stand for the unity of Nigeria and fake peaceful co-existence that has made it difficult for the Sultan and other leading lights of the Muslim community to condemn the activities of the Fulani herdsmen.

It’s simple the murderous activities of the herdsmen militia fit their game plan!

If you think there is no game plan ask yourself why such killings are not perpetrated in Muslim communities or are grazing fields to be found in only Christian communities?

You can deceive yourselves as Christians pretending this isn’t about who and how you worship but they will soon arrive at your doorsteps.
