Renowned Accounting Scholar, Dr. Ochuko Emudainohwo, to Lead DOPF 2025 Annual Lecture on Nigeria’s New Tax Law

ASABA/Nigeria: The Delta Online Publishers Forum (DOPF) has announced that Dr. Ochuko Benedict Emudainohwo, PhD, FCA, Associate Professor of Accounting at Dennis Osadebay University (DOU), Asaba, will deliver the keynote address at the 6th DOPF Annual Lecture scheduled for Thursday, November 27, 2025, at David’s Event Centre, Asaba. The event begins at 11:00 a.m.

The 2025 edition of the annual lecture will focus on the theme, “Nigeria’s New Tax Law: Implications and Opportunities for Businesses and Society,” a topic expected to spark national discourse on fiscal reforms and economic transformation. The DOPF Planning Committee, in a statement jointly signed by its Chairman, Mr. Abel Johngold, and Secretary, Mrs. Josephine Omodior, described Dr. Emudainohwo as “an accomplished scholar and professional accountant whose blend of academic excellence, research expertise, and professional experience will enrich the national dialogue on taxation and governance.”

A Fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Nigeria (FCA), Dr. Emudainohwo is widely respected for his work in accounting, taxation, and financial governance. He currently serves as Associate Professor of Accounting at Dennis Osadebay University and was the Acting Dean of the Faculty of Management Sciences during the 2023/2024 academic session. His leadership in curriculum reform, research advancement, and management education has earned him recognition within academia and the professional accounting community.

Dr. Emudainohwo holds a PhD in Accounting from the University of Glasgow, United Kingdom, and multiple degrees in Finance and Accounting from the University of Lagos (UNILAG). His scholarly works — published in reputable national and international journals — explore critical issues in foreign direct investment, fiscal policy, taxation, firm performance, and public sector accountability. His research has significantly contributed to policy conversations on governance and economic reforms in emerging economies.

As an educator, he is committed to mentoring the next generation of accounting professionals through his coordination of the Accounting Technician Scheme (ATS) at Dennis Osadebay University. He also teaches a range of advanced courses, including Contemporary Issues in Accounting, Social and Environmental Accounting, and Advanced Management Accounting Theory.

The DOPF Planning Committee expressed confidence that Dr. Emudainohwo’s lecture would offer “a rare fusion of academic insight, practical experience, and policy relevance,” providing fresh perspectives on how Nigeria’s new tax law could drive inclusive growth, improve revenue efficiency, and foster business sustainability.

The event will also feature a panel of distinguished discussants drawn from government, academia, business, and civil society. His Excellency, Rt. Hon. (Elder) Sheriff Oborevwori, Governor of Delta State, will attend as the Special Guest of Honour, alongside senior government officials, corporate leaders, and members of the media.

The DOPF Annual Lecture has become one of the most anticipated intellectual gatherings in Delta State, providing a platform for thought leadership, policy debate, and professional engagement on issues shaping Nigeria’s development trajectory.
