Rev. Fr. Cletus Enwefah Urges Mothers to Embrace Sacred Duty on Mother’s Day Amidst Economic Hardship

UBEJI/Nigeria: In commemoration of Mother’s Day, observed annually on April 14th within the Catholic tradition, Rev. Fr. Cletus Enwefah of St. Theresa’s Parish in Ubeji, Warri South Local Government Area of Delta State, issued a poignant call to mothers to uphold their crucial role with steadfast intention and purpose.

Fr. Enwefah emphasized that Mother’s Day transcends mere festivity, serving as a solemn summons for all mothers to introspect on their indispensable contributions to society.

Expressing apprehension over the inadvertent negligence of maternal responsibilities amidst economic challenges, the cleric highlighted the perilous consequences, such as youth delinquency and involvement in illicit activities, stemming from such neglect.

Advocating for a renewed commitment to nurturing children with conscientious care, Fr. Enwefah urged mothers to exercise vigilance and intentionality in their parental duties.

Furthermore, he underscored the pivotal role of inculcating reverence for God in children, endorsing regular church attendance as a cornerstone for fostering moral values and sagacity from an early age.

The thematic focus of this year’s Mother’s Day, elucidated by Fr. Enwefah as “Motherhood: A Call to Perform Our Sacred and Supreme Vocation,” aims to galvanize mothers to prioritize their sanctified roles as spouses and mothers, drawing inspiration from the virtuous life of Mary, the mother of Jesus Christ.

He affirmed that the Church’s observance of Mother’s Day serves as a poignant reminder of the profound significance of motherhood and the imperative for mothers to discharge their divine calling with unwavering dedication and affection.
