Rights Group, CRCEI Celebrates CSP Shaba For Bagging Double Awards For Outstanding Performance in Crime Fighting

EKPAN/Nigeria: The phrase “honour is given to whom honour is due,” was practically demonstrated yesterday as the members of a frontline human rights group, Citizens Rights Concern Enhancement Initiative (CRCEI), celebrated an iconic police officer and Divisional Police Officer (DPO) of Ekpan Police Station, Effurun Divisional HQ, CSP Aliyu Shaba, on the occasion of the prestigious double awards bestowed on him by the Nigeria Police Force, NPF, in recognition  of his outstanding performance in crime fighting.

The awards: “Police Officer Of The Year” and Divisional Police Officer Of The Year” were presented to CSP Aliyu Shaba in Abuja by Nigeria Vice President, Kashim Shettima, at the just concluded police Award and Commendation ceremony held in Abuja on Monday 15, April, 2024.

The award certificate signed by IGP Kayode Egbetokun, commended CSP Shaba’s unwavering gallantry and crime bursting prowess.

The leaders of CRCEI, Amb. Edewor Egedegbe; Dcn Monday Enudi; Activist Kelvin Ejumudo; Comrade Harrison Itulua; Comrade Tega Shalope; and Amb. Onyi Ikemefuna, led other members of the group to give CSP Aliyu Shaba a glamorous welcome as he arrived from Abuja where he had gone to receive the awards.

The PCRC hall, Ekpan Police Station, venue of the welcome party was thronged with crowd of well wishers, including police officers attached to Ekpan Police Station, Effurun Divisional HQ, Executive Officers of Ekpan Development Committee, led by its Chairman, Comrade Edirin Victory N., members of human rights community, journalists and other friends of CSP Aliyu Shaba.

Speaking at the occasion, Amb. Edewor Egedegbe, Dcn Monday Enudi, Amb. Onyi Ikemefuna, Activist Kelvin Ejumudo, Comr. Umukoro Efemena, and Edirin Victory N., poured encomiums on CSP Aliyu Shaba for blazing the trail in combating criminality in the society.

They commended him for his professionalism, discipline, dedication to duty and outstanding performances in crime fighting.

Continuing, they described CSP Shaba as a ‘Super Cop,’ and a rare gem imbued with unrivalled competence,  commitment, courage and intelligence, which distinguish him as a crime burster per excellent.

Stating further, Amb Egedegbe commended IGP.  Koyode Egbetokun for starting a police award-giving ceremony, describing it as a noble initiative and first of it’s kind since the Nigeria Police Force was established.

He urged the Nigeria Police chief and his team to sustain the initiative, and encourage States Police Commands to follow suit, saying “it’ll boost the moral of the personnel of the Nigeria Police Force and inspire  professionalism among the officers, including the rank and file.”

The CRCEI leaders called on other DPOs in Delta State and across the country to emulate the sterling qualities of CSP Aliyu Shaba, tasking them on competence, dedication and professionalism in the discharge of their duties, noting that such virtues would promote a better and crime free society.

Speaking, CSP Aliyu Shaba expressed his gratitude to members of Citizens Rights Concern Enhancement Initiative, his junior colleagues, Ekpan community and the retinue of other well wishers for the honour they have accorded him.

He dedicated the awards to the good people of Delta State, saying that the awards would spur him to double his efforts and improve his strategies for combating crime and promoting justice without fear or favour.

In the same vein, the leaders of Citizens Rights Concern Enhancement Initiative congratulated the Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO) of the Delta State Police Command, SP Bright Edafe on the occasion of his award as the ‘Police PPRO Of The Year,” even as the group conveyed her warm regards to the Delta State Police Command under the headship of CP Olufemi Abaniwonda.

CSP Aliyu Shaba is a highly trained and well coordinated Police Officer whose professionalism, commitment to duty and enviable humility are rare qualities that proudly stand him out as the peoples’ cop.
