EFFURUN/Nigeria: The Ovie of Uvwie Kingdom, HRM Dr. Emmanuel E. Sideso Abe I, on Saturday formally presented his autobiography Odyssey of Royalty – Abe I, declaring that the publication represents an honest historical account of his life, leadership journey and the collective progress of his people.
Speaking at the ceremony held at his palace in Effurun, Delta State, the revered monarch said the book was written to preserve authentic history and ensure that future generations understand the realities behind his reign, stressing that true narratives must be documented by those who lived them. He explained that the work chronicles his transformation from private professional service into royal responsibility, capturing defining moments, trials and triumphs that shaped both his life and the kingdom.
Reflecting on his background, Abe I recounted his 30-year career at the Nigerian Mint and attributed his successes to divine providence, discipline and perseverance. He noted that his reign, which has lasted 18 years, began under challenging conditions but was guided by courage, faith and bold leadership decisions that enabled him to steer the kingdom toward stability and growth despite skepticism at the early stages.
The monarch highlighted landmark achievements recorded during his rule, including the construction of a modern palace complex and improvements in public infrastructure, peace and socio-economic activity. According to him, these milestones were made possible through unity, collective vision and the resilience of his subjects, whom he described as the true architects of Uvwie’s progress.
Addressing national issues, he commended President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for efforts to reposition the country through policy reforms and urged Nigerians to remain hopeful in the face of present challenges. He also expressed appreciation to Governor Sheriff Oborevwori for infrastructural development and continued support for the Uvwie Education Scheme initiated by former governor Ifeanyi Okowa, while acknowledging the contributions of past governors James Ibori and Emmanuel Uduaghan. The royal father concluded by thanking his people for their loyalty and reaffirming his commitment to peace, inclusiveness and enduring progress.
