Rt Hon Emomotimi Guwor Reaffirms Commitment to People-Oriented Legislation During Meeting with Former Classmates

ASABA/Nigeria:  Speaker of the Delta State House of Assembly, Rt Hon Emomotimi Guwor, once again expressed his unwavering dedication to enacting robust and people-oriented legislation, as he received a delegation of his former classmates from the Class of 2005, Religious Studies Department, Delta State University, Abraka. The meeting, held on July 11, 2023, took place in Speaker Guwor’s office.

Guwor attributed his current position to divine intervention and acknowledged the influence of his educational experience at Delta State University. He expressed gratitude to the Religious Studies Department and the institution for shaping his career, emphasizing his commitment to utilizing his role as a lawmaker and Speaker to make a positive impact on society.

He highlighted the Assembly’s focus on enhancing the education sector in the state through comprehensive legislation. He acknowledged his humble beginnings as a representative of the Religious Studies department in the Student Union Government, expressing unwavering appreciation for the department and the Delta State University.

“Looking back, I know where I started from. I must remain grateful to the institution(s) that made me. So, I remain eternally grateful to God for grooming me through the instrumentalities of the Religious Department of the Delta State University,” remarked Speaker Guwor.

He further assured continued support for the Religious Studies Department and the Delta State University Abraka, pledging to prioritize developmental projects in his alma mater. Guwor emphasized that the State Assembly would play a vital role in enacting legislation that enhances the educational system in Delta State.

“I make bold to say here that I will not turn my back against the Religious Department of the Delta State University Abraka, nor the school. I will ensure that we put more efforts into the developmental projects of the school; my alma mater,” asserted Guwor. “Here in the State Assembly, we will ensure legislation that would continue to enhance the educational system of our dear state. It is only God that elevated me to this position and by His Grace, I will use this position to impact positively on the lives of Deltans,” he added.

Mr. Bartholomew Akwaligbe, the leader of the visiting delegation and former coordinator of the Class, congratulated Speaker Guwor on his appointment as the Speaker of the State House of Assembly. Akwaligbe urged Guwor to uphold the honor and reputation of the Religious Studies Department of Delta State University, Abraka, emphasizing his role as a shining ambassador for the department.

The visit concluded with Speaker Guwor and his former classmates exchanging gifts, symbolizing the camaraderie and shared memories of their time at the university.
