The Divisional Police Officer of the Sapele Police Station, C.S.P. Mammam Rijau has enjoined members of the All Progressive Congress (APC) party in the area to maintain peace and order while issuing a 21 day ultimatum to their Executive officers led by Chief Lucky Onisuru Esidje to call a meeting of the party where he should settle all aggrieved members amicably.
The Divisional Police Officer who invited one Elvis Ayomanor, a former Chairmanship candidate of the party and other members to the station for questioning after receiving complaint from Chief Lucky Esidje and Cyril Ogodo that they were holding illegal meetings advised Chief Esidje who is still laying claims to the Chairmanship seat of APC after a no confidence vote was placed on him by the entire members of the party in a meeting held at Oleh Road Sapele to urgently call a meeting within the stipulated time where he should harmonize the members or ceased to parade himself as the Chairman for peace to reign, following his refusal to call meetings and as well carry members along before now.
Hon. Ayemanor Elvis who briefed journalists after their meeting with the Police said the DPO has ordered that in case the Esidje led Exco refused to call meetings, the interim Exco now put in place will assume full control of the party in the area.
He said the police led their men to the venue of their meeting, where he and others were invited but were resisted by the large turnout of party faithful as the Divisional Crime Officer (DCO) of the station who led his men to the venue having sensed danger, in his wisdom had to appeal to them to report to the station after the meeting.
Members of APC in Sapele came to the conclusion that they could no longer cope with their leader, Chief Esidje whom they alleged has been very weak to be a leader of a great party such as theirs, if they must win elections to reverse the ugly trends of always losing election and in addition to the cases of financial impropriety, nepotism, favouritism etc leveled against one of their leaders Dr. Cyril Ogodo which they said gave Esidje the leverage to act and as well do the biddings of his sponsors to the detriments of the members like a family business.
Meanwhile, the party has inaugurated interim members to run their affairs since Esidje and his group were no longer active enough to carry members along and as well ensure candidates win their elections which resulted to a vote of no confidence moved on them by Comrade Magistrate Eyitemi, APC Ward 8 Chairman which was unanimously adopted by every members of the party.
