SEEPCO Given Two Weeks to Evacuate Okpai Kingdom in Delta State

ABOH/Nigeria: The Okpai Community Development Commission (CDC) Chairman in Ndokwa East L.G.A, Dr. Fred Okwuezulu alongside the youths and the entire Community, expressed total dissatisfaction over the negligence of Sterling Exploration & Energy Production Company (SEEPCO) in Okpai Kingdom.

The Chairman who spoke on behalf of Okpai people said that there was a two days peaceful protest in the land due to noncompliance of the M.O.U reached between SEEPCO and the Community.

The CDC Chairman also stated clearly that SEEPCO has over 52 oil wells in Okpai Kingdom and there is nothing to show for it, no infrastructural development, no good access roads of which they damaged the roads constructed by AGIP and they have also failed to construct the 15.5 kilometres road from IPP junction to Okpai Obeze.

He therefore called on the SEEPCO to leave the AGIP jetty as the community expects a gigantic project from AGIP Oil Company that will impact meaningfully to the lives of Okpai people through infrastructural and human capital development and to also put the 15 kilometre road in place before evacuation.

The people of Okpai Kingdom, called on the Commissioner representing Ndokwa Ethnic Nationality in DESOPADEC, Hon Nnamdi Ezechi to call on the management of SEEPCO to comply with the request of the community.

The youth President of Okpai Kingdom, Comrd. Eric Egwuonwu who spoke on behalf of the community youths stated that Okpai Kingdom has been known for peace and hospitality but SEEPCO has been dragging the name of the community to the mud due to their lack of compliance to the M.O.U reached and signed between the company and the community.
