EFFURUN/Nigeria: The member representing Okpe, Sapele and Uvwie Constituency in the House of Representatives and Delta Central Senatorial aspirant, in the 2019 election, Hon. Evelyn Omavowan Oboro, has reiterated that her desire to be in the senate come 2019, is influenced by her passion to serve the people of Delta Central.
Hon. Oboro made the statement on Sunday, at a media chat with some selected journalists, saying that her priority is not to make history as the first female Senator in Delta Central.
Shedding more light on her political vision for Delta Central, Hon. Oboro said she would deploy in full dose, her intellectual prowess and honed legislative experience to influence government policies that would fast-track unprecedented economic growth in Delta Central and Urhobo nation at large.
The federal legislature said that her senatorial ambition could only be actualised through the support of the good people of Delta Central. Adding that she would sustain her legacy of transparent leadership by guaranteeing dividends of democracy at a larger scale, stating that she would project the Urhobo agenda at the red chamber with unquenchable zeal.
Fielding questions from journalists, the law maker of the PDP clout, reiterated her commitment to sustain her legacy of transparency and good leadership, stating that every opportunity she had been given to serve in political office had been wholly utilised to improving the lots of the people of her constituency. Adding that from the twilight of her political career as a councillor, then moving up to local government Chairman and currently as member of the House of Representatives, she had proved her mettle in advocating for the wellbeing of her constituents and guaranteeing dividends of democracy at a commendable level.
Hon. Oboro, who is serving her second term in the House of Representatives, posted no doubts that she has the requisite academic prowess, administrative ingenuity and political wherewithal to accomplish the needs of the people of Delta Central when she gets to the Senate come 2019.
Continuing, Hon. Oboro described herself as a true democrat who is not easily swayed by critics, saying that in the event of unfounded criticism against her, she sees a bright opportunity to debunking the unfounded stories via the media and also educate the public in a bid to setting the record straight.
Hon. Oboro pledged her loyalty to the people of Urhobo nation, saying that she needs their collective votes to be at the senate in 2019. She promised to uphold the dynamics of consultations to enable interfacing with the people of Delta Central to ensure quality representation.
Speaking on her role as a law maker, Hon. Oboro said she had sponsored a couple of important bills at plenaries, noting that some of the bills had been passed into law. The most significant among the bills, she noted, was the bill establishing the Federal University of Petroleum Resources, Effurun (FUPRE), which had recently been signed into law by President Muhammadu Buhari.
Hon. Oboro commended the media, especially the online for its vibrancy in news and events reportage. She emphasized the important role the online media plays in ensuring good governance is not mortgaged by politicians in public office.
It would be recalled that in recent times, the media has been awash with the rich dossier of unbroken success and achievements of Hon. Evelyn Oboro. These reports have often been corroborated with testimonies from various quarters validating her landmark achievements in stepping up the economic base of the people of her constituency, through sustained empowerment programmes and employment of labour.
