Senator Ned Nwoko Officially Joins APC in Delta, Vows to Strengthen Party’s Hold on State

ONICHA-OLONA/Nigeria: On a politically charged day in Onicha Olona, Delta North Senatorial District witnessed a major shift as Senator Ned Munir Nwoko, representing the district in the National Assembly and Chairman of the Senate Committee on Reparation and Repatriation, was officially received into the Aniocha North chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC).

The event, marked by unity and strategic political realignment, showcased the growing influence of the APC in Delta State.

The well-organized gathering brought together party members, political leaders, and supporters, with the Local Government Area (LGA) party executives, led by Chairman Sir Matthew Chinye, playing a vital role in the event’s success.

A symbolic moment came when Senator Nwoko was handed the APC’s broom, the party’s emblem, officially marking his induction. Addressing the enthusiastic crowd, the senator expressed his excitement, emphasizing that the APC “truly understands governance” and is gaining increasing support across Delta State and beyond.

“With the growing support we receive daily, the APC will stop the PDP from winning future elections in Delta State,” Nwoko declared, rallying confidence in the party’s future prospects.

He explained that his decision to join the APC was driven by his commitment to advancing the interests of Delta North, citing key issues such as the creation of Anioma State, the completion of the Okpai power plant, and the reticulation of water from the Ogwashi-Uku Dam as urgent priorities. These, he said, were not just campaign promises but essential projects that demanded immediate action.

A renowned philanthropist, Senator Nwoko dismissed any speculation that his defection was politically motivated for electoral gains. “It’s all about the needs of my people and the promises we made during our campaign,” he said, stressing that his focus remains on tangible development rather than political maneuvering.

In a significant announcement, he confirmed that Aniocha North Constituency 2 had been approved and would elect a representative in the House of Assembly in the 2027 elections—a move widely welcomed as a step toward greater political representation.

Encouraging APC members to remain united, Senator Nwoko assured them of his dedication to strengthening the party in Delta State. He disclosed that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu had tasked him with uniting the APC in the state and that he had reached out to key leaders, all of whom had shown willingness to collaborate, except former Senator Peter Nwaoboshi.

Addressing allegations from Nwaoboshi that he had bribed a judge to imprison him, Nwoko dismissed the claims as false and baseless. “I did not do it, and I will never do it to anybody,” he stated firmly, adding that he would let the matter rest if Nwaoboshi retracted his accusation.

The event also featured prominent figures, including Rt. Hon. Engr. Victor Ochei FNSE, who expressed support for Senator Nwoko and the APC’s mission in Delta State.

As the ceremony came to a close, it was evident that Senator Nwoko’s defection was more than just a political move—it was a declaration of his intent to reshape the future of Delta North’s political landscape, with governance, unity, and development at the forefront.
