Senator Nwoko to Join APC, Consults With Stakeholders

ONITCHA-UGBO/Nigeria: Senator Ned Nwoko has expressed his intention to join the All Progressives Congress (APC) after consulting stakeholders in Delta North. The development marks a critical turning point in the lawmaker’s political career, who currently represents the district under the People’s Democratic Party (PDP).

During a televised interview on AriseTV, Hon. Gloria Okolugbo, Nwoko’s Director of Communications, confirmed that the senator’s decision was driven by frustrations with the PDP’s leadership and internal structure.

“Nwoko’s commitment to Delta North’s development has been obstructed by factionalization within the PDP,” Okolugbo said. “The party’s failure to address key issues, including the Okpai IPP electricity project and the Ogwashi-Uku dam, left the senator with no choice but to seek alternatives.”

The senator’s move to join the APC, led by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, is seen as a strategic step to align with the federal government and enhance Delta North’s development prospects. Stakeholders who participated in the consultations reportedly expressed support for the defection.

Also, in a message to further confirm the defection, the Chief of Staff to the Senator, Dr. Michael Nwoko, he simply replied, “Fingers Crossed. It will Happen”.

Nwoko’s decision has sparked debate within Delta State’s political circles, with analysts suggesting that the senator’s defection could weaken the PDP’s influence in the region while bolstering the APC’s political standing.
