Soludo’s Wife Urges Stronger Family Planning Education to Safeguard Society …..Calls on Christian women to use August Meeting to tackle moral decline, drug abuse, and social challenges

AWKA/Nigeria: Wife of the Anambra State Governor, Dr. Nonye Soludo, has called for increased education on proper family planning among couples, warning that unplanned families could pose a serious threat to societal stability.

Soludo, who is the founder of the Healthy Living Initiative, made the call on Monday in Awka as Christian women commenced the 2025 annual August Meeting in the state.

According to her, family planning is not merely a personal choice but a critical pillar in the development of healthy families and sustainable communities.

“An unplanned home is an impending disaster for society. When families grow beyond their capacity to nurture and support, the ripple effects are felt across education, healthcare, security, and other sectors of the society. Family is about planning a future where every child is wanted and every family is secure,” she said.

The Governor’s Wife urged the women to use the August Meeting as a platform to discuss fundamental issues affecting family and society, stressing that such gatherings should not only be cultural but solution-driven.

She noted that issues such as rising moral deficits in child-raising, depreciation of family values, drug abuse among school children, and parental neglect require urgent attention from mothers and women leaders.

Soludo further observed that the quest for illicit wealth among youths, rising intolerance, and lack of communal peace are key societal challenges that the August Meetings can help address through dialogue and collective action.

“We need to also promote tolerance, communal and religious peace, as well as offer women opportunities for ideological reforms, social growth, and economic empowerment. There is the need to figure out viable avenues to reach out to members who are struggling with faith and life and to also dedicate time to spiritual revival,” she stated.

She wished the women of Anambra a peaceful and fulfilling August Meeting 2025 and urged them to remember both the state and the nation in their prayers.
