EGBEDA/Nigeria: Delta State Governor Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori affirmed the unity among South-South governors in Nigeria, emphasizing their collective commitment to the region’s integrated development.
Speaking at the inauguration of the 21.49km Egbeda internal roads and drainage systems in Emohua Local Government Area, Governor Oborevwori praised Rivers State residents for their unwavering support for Governor Siminalayi Fubara, assuring them that peace would soon return to the state.
Governor Oborevwori lauded the project as a testament to Governor Fubara’s dedication to sustainable infrastructural development, predicting significant socio-economic benefits for Egbeda and the wider Emohua area. He also urged residents to maintain the new infrastructure by keeping drains free of refuse to prevent flooding.
“I am happy to be here today to inaugurate the Egbeda community internal roads executed by my brother, Governor Sir Siminalayi Fubara,” Oborevwori stated. “What I have seen here today is organic love for Governor Fubara. It’s not a borrowed crowd; this is genuine support, as evidenced by the turnout and the presence of traditional rulers. I promise you, he will not fail you.”
Highlighting the deep ties between the South-South states, Oborevwori added, “Our unity as a region is as strong as ever. We are united and committed to the welfare of our people. This region produces the nation’s wealth, and we owe it to our people to deliver development and the dividends of democracy.”
Rivers State Governor Siminalayi Fubara, expressing gratitude to Governor Oborevwori for inaugurating the project, praised the contractor for timely completion and thanked the Egbeda community for their support before, during, and after the 2023 elections.
“For all your support, we owe you the dividends of democracy,” Fubara declared. “If we can achieve this in four months, imagine what we will accomplish in the years to come. Our priority is the welfare of our people, and we aim to meet your needs and solve problems like flooding through these developments.”
Fubara also pledged further improvements, including extending the road and upgrading the Egbeda community school.
Engr. Atemea Briggs, Permanent Secretary of the Rivers State Ministry of Works, noted in his welcome remarks that the project had transformed Egbeda into a semi-urban town, underscoring the significance of the development for the community.
