ASABA/Nigeria: The Speaker of the Delta State House of Assembly, Rt Hon Emomotimi Dennis Guwor, has expressed his congratulations to the newly elected leadership of the Delta State Council of the Nigerian Union of Journalists (NUJ).
This congratulatory message followed their victories in Wednesday’s electoral contest, held in Asaba, the state capital.
Rt Hon Guwor, in a statement released shortly after the elections, conveyed his felicitations, particularly towards Comrade Chuchill Oyowe, who emerged as the new Chairman of the Delta NUJ. The Speaker also offered words of encouragement and responsibility to the newly elected officials.
Guwor encouraged Comrade Oyowe to uphold the legacies of his predecessors and infuse a fresh vitality into the Delta NUJ. Furthermore, he called on all elected officials, including Vice Chairman Felix Ekwu, Secretary Victor Sorouku, Treasurer Caroline Ubini, Assistant Secretary Josephine Omordio, Financial Secretary Polycarb Orosevwotu, and Auditor Celestine Afokobah, to collaborate with the chairman in ensuring the fulfillment of the promises made during their election campaigns.
Speaking on behalf of the leadership, members, and management of the Delta State House of Assembly, Rt Hon Guwor extended his best wishes to the new leadership of the Delta State Council of the NUJ, led by Comrade Chuchill Oyowe. He emphasized the importance of the chairman’s role in rejuvenating the Union and building upon the achievements of his predecessors.
The Speaker’s statement also highlighted the need for elected officials to work harmoniously as a team to advance the council’s objectives. Emphasizing unity and inclusivity, he stated, “Elections have come and gone, every member of the Union should be carried along in the affairs of the Council.”
Rt Hon Guwor expressed his appreciation for the peaceful conduct of the entire membership of the Delta State Council of the NUJ throughout the electioneering process. He urged them to provide their unwavering support to the new leadership, ensuring their collective success in the days ahead.
