KWALE/Nigeria: A concerned stakeholder in Ndokwa West Local Government Area has raised the alarm over the worsening security situation in Kwale, calling on the Executive Chairman of the council to urgently intervene to stem the tide of killings and restore peace to the area.
In a letter addressed to the Executive Chairman of Ndokwa West Local Government Area, Comrade Ifinedo Ogochukwu Clement expressed deep concern over what he described as the continuous loss of lives in recent times, noting that the development has thrown residents into fear, tension and uncertainty.
According to him, the spate of violent incidents and reported killings in Kwale is not only alarming but poses a serious threat to peace, unity and sustainable development within the local government area.
“Kwale is our home, and the safety of lives and property should remain a top priority for all stakeholders,” Clement stated, adding that the current situation demands immediate and decisive action from the authorities.
The stakeholder said his appeal was made with respect and confidence in the leadership capacity of the council chairman, stressing that timely intervention, coupled with collaboration among security agencies, community leaders and youth groups, could help curb the violence and restore lasting peace.
He urged the local government leadership to urgently put in place proactive measures to avert or at least reduce the continuous killings, noting that residents are looking up to the council for reassurance, protection and renewed hope in what he described as trying times.
Clement also commended the chairman’s commitment to the welfare of the people, while appealing for swift action to address the security challenges confronting Kwale and its environs.
