ASABA/Nigeria: The National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS) South-South Zone expressed their congratulations to Comrade Festus Ahon on his appointment as the Chief Press Secretary to Governor Sheriff Oborevwori of Delta State. The student organization, led by Comrade Chika Kessy Ossai, the National Assistant Secretary, along with Comrade Dio Oghale, Deputy Coordinator of NANS Zone B, and Comrade Pedro Obi, NANS Presidential aspirant, visited Ahon at the Government House in Asaba to convey their felicitations.
Comrade Ossai commended Ahon, describing him as a journalist who has supported NANS activities in the zone for several years. Ossai expressed their delight with Ahon’s appointment, considering it to be well deserved. Ossai further emphasized that they were there to congratulate Ahon on his appointment and expressed gratitude to Governor Oborevwori for recognizing Ahon’s worthiness for the position. Ossai also conveyed their commitment to supporting the state government as long as it continues to prioritize the welfare of students, particularly concerning bursary payments. Ossai acknowledged the Oborevwori administration’s M.O.R.E. (Meaningful Projects, Optimum Peace, Rapid Development, and Educational Reforms) Agenda and urged the government to continue implementing programs that uplift the general populace.
In response, Comrade Ahon expressed his appreciation for the visit from the NANS leaders and assured them of the state government’s commitment to investing in education and providing welfare for students. Ahon assured the students that Governor Oborevwori is youth-friendly and will prioritize the interests of students. He pledged to advance Delta State with the M.O.R.E. Agenda and emphasized that the government will not compromise on the welfare of students. Ahon encouraged NANS to continue supporting the government within their powers, and in case of any issues, he urged them to approach the government first for resolution rather than resorting to protests. He reassured the students that Governor Oborevwori understands their challenges and will utilize his authority to ensure students’ comfort during their studies..
