Sunny Odogwu Buried

ASABA/Nigeria: The business mongul and Chief of Asaba, High Chief (Dr) Sunny Iwedike Odogwu who slept in the Lord on November 5, 2019, has been laid to rest in his palatial home in Asaba.

Chief Sunny Odogwu had his primary education at Asaba before proceeding to Lagos for his secondary education. He studied at the CMS Grammar School Lagos and later completed his secondary education at the Ilesha Grammar School where he came out in flying colours. On completing his secondary education, Sunny accepted employment from Norwich Union Insurance Company in Lagos, Nigeria. He resigned two years later to start his own business.

As a visionary and a man highly favored by God, Chief Odogwu left his thriving business and proceeded to the United Kingdom to further his education. He did not go for Medicine, Engineering, Law or any of the professional courses that reigned at the time, instead, he received degrees in Business Management and relatively unknown Insurance Studies at the City University and the London Chartered Insurance Institute respectively. This early decision to depart from the norms of his time catapulted him to Fame and today we are celebrating such a man of enormous achievements. Sonny qualified as an Associate of Chartered Insurance Institute (ACI), a Fellow of the Chartered Insurance Institute of Brokers (FCIB) and a Fellow of the Corporate Insurance Practitioners (FCIP).

At the funeral Mass on Friday January 25, 2019 at St Patrick’s Catholic cathedral Asaba Delta State, Chief Sonny Odogwu was showered with encomiums as the Pillar of AHABA who lived a selfless life empowering the poor and lass privileged in the society. His benevolence cut across all tribes and races.

High Chief Sonny Odogwu is a great philanthropist per excellence whose activities cut across the whole world. He is survived by his wife and eight children.
