SUPREME COURT VERDICT: Elumelu Congratulates Delta State Governor, Commends Democracy’s Triumph

ABUJA/Nigeria: In a statement released on Friday, January 19, 2024, the immediate past Minority Leader of the House of Representatives, Ndudi Elumelu, OON, has extended heartfelt congratulations to the Delta State Governor, Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori, following the Supreme Court’s judgment that affirmed him as the duly elected Governor of the State.

Elumelu, acknowledging the significance of the Supreme Court’s ruling as the final arbiter, emphasized that it represents the ultimate triumph of the collective will of the people of Delta State, who turned out in large numbers to vote for Governor Oborevwori in the March 2023 Governorship Election.

Describing the Supreme Court as a beacon of hope for the people and democracy in Nigeria, Elumelu commended the judiciary for upholding the tenets of justice and democracy. He stated, “On behalf of my family, I heartily rejoice and congratulate our beloved and indefatigable Governor, His Excellency, Rt. Hon. Elder Sheriff Francis Oborevwori, our great party, the Peoples Democratic (PDP), and indeed, the good people of Delta State.”

Expressing gratitude for the auspicious day, Elumelu emphasized that the Supreme Court victory is a collective triumph for all, democracy, and the people of Delta State. He also lauded the support and cooperation of the immediate past Governor, Senator Dr. Ifeanyi Okowa, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), and the people of the State in advancing the MORE Agenda initiated by Governor Oborevwori.

Elumelu observed that the strides taken by the Oborevwori-led administration are already repositioning the state for higher productivity and development. He urged all stakeholders in the State to unite and collaborate with Governor Oborevwori to ensure the overall success of the MORE Agenda in the interest of all.
