UGHELLI/Nigeria: A robbery suspect, popularly known as Ejime, who specializes in snatching and stealing of Okada in Ughelli and Environs has been lynched.
The suspect who hails from Afiesere community, with two others now on the run, on the faithful day were alleged to have attempted to steal a motorcycle popularly called ‘Okada’ that was parked by the owner and in the process they were sighted by the owner who raised alarm.
According to an eye witness, youths of the area came out in large numbers and gave them a hot chase and while the two other were able to escape, the said suspect, who is a renowned tailor was most unfortunate.
It was disclosed that before his death, the deceased confessed to the crime and also confessed the identity of one his gang members who is now at large, as well as being involved in snatching of Okada in the area.
It would be recalled that of recent, the stealing of Okada in Ughelli and environs has been very rampant.
Meanwhile, the maternal relatives of the deceased from neighboring Isoko community have threatened to attack Afiesere community over the death of their sister’s son which they said was an act of extrajudicial killing.
Reacting, an elderly man from Afiesere community, who did not disclose his name said that the threat was baseless since the deceased was neither lynched nor died in Afiesere community.
He advised the relatives of the deceased to have a rethink on their intention, adding that Afiesere community was known for peace and justice and would not take part in such extrajudicial killing.
