WARRI/Nigeria: In a resolute stand against oil theft in the Niger Delta region, TANTITA Security Services Nigeria Limited has been awarded the prestigious title of “Independent Security Company of the Year 2023” by Independent Newspapers.
The recognition comes as a testament to the company’s unwavering commitment to combating illicit activities in the oil sector.
The announcement, set to be formalized during an award ceremony on May 4, 2024, was conveyed to TANTITA Security Services Nigeria Limited through a nomination letter presented by the Board of Editors of Independent Newspapers.
Steve Omanufeme, the Managing Director/Editor-In-Chief of Independent Newspapers, along with Don Okere, Editor of Independent Newspapers, and Yemi Adebisi, Editor of Saturday Independent, handed over the nomination letter to Dr. Paul Bebenimibo, Media Consultant to Ex-freedom fighter, High Chief(Dr.) Oweizide Government Ekpemupolo Alias Tompolo.
The nomination letter cited the company’s outstanding performance in pipeline surveillance, leading to significant achievements in curbing oil theft. Notably, TANTITA Security Services Nigeria Limited’s diligent efforts resulted in a notable increase in Nigeria’s oil production, rising from 900,000 to 1.5 million barrels per day, while weekly losses plummeted from 4.8 million to approximately 1.4 million barrels.
Highlighting the crucial role played by TANTITA Security Services Nigeria Limited in safeguarding Nigeria’s oil infrastructure, the nomination letter underscored the discovery of 295 illegal connections to NNPC pipelines, many of which had been facilitating sabotage operations for years.
Furthermore, the nomination acknowledged the company’s contribution to employment generation, particularly among the youth population in the Niger Delta region, as part of the broader fight against oil thieves.
The recognition by Independent Newspapers aligns with the overarching objective of the award, which seeks to honor trailblazers and exceptional individuals or organizations making significant contributions to Nigerian society.
