UGHELLI/Nigeria: A social political organisation, Team Ibori for Okowa 2019, has honoured an Ogoni Olomu indigine, Prince Sonny Ogbon, as Ambassador of the group.
The ceremony, which held at Ogoni Olomu, Ughelli South Local Government on Thursday, was declared open by the State Coordinator of the group, Hon Edmond Guanah, who stated that there is no vacancy in Government House, Asaba, comes 2019.
He said that it is very certain that the State Governor, Senator Dr. Ifeanyi Okowa, will retain power in 2019 because the group have put all strategies on ground to mobilise support for the Governor’s second tenure.
Also during the ceremony, a political guru and former Commissioner for Lands, Surveys and Urban Development in the state, Olorogun Barrister Fred Majemite, was presented an Award of Excellence by the group. The presentation was done by the State Secretary of the group, Mr. Mathew Oji.
In his response, the host of the ceremony and the new Ambassador of the group, Prince Sonny Ogbon, revealed that he was pleased with the honour given to him and pledged his support for the group.
He equally said that his support for the return of Senator Okowa in 2019 is total as he is poised to mobilize, work and make sure the Governor wins the whole of Ughelli South Local Government Area.
Also speaking during the ceremony, Olorogun Majemite thanked members of the group, especially the State Coordinator, Hon Edmond Guanah, for doing a great work for Senator Okowa.
He lauded the philosophy of the group, which is anchored on that of a former Governor of the state, Chief James Ibori, that for equity, fairness and justices, the three Senatorial Districts must enjoy the rotation of the Governorship position and that Senator Okowa must be returned to Government House, Asaba, come 2019.
The Women Leader of the group and former Secretary to Ughelli North Local Government Council, Chief Mrs. Dora Eromafuru, had earlier decorated Prince Ogbon as an Ambassador of Team Ibori for Okowa 2019.
