Technician Docked For Alleged Concealment Of Stolen Phone

ABUJA/Nigeria: The Police on Monday, arraigned a 27-year-old phone technician, Abubakar Shukurana, before a Zuba Upper Area Court, Abuja, for allegedly assisting his friend Danjuma, to conceal a stolen phone.

Shukurana of Yarkasuwa Galadimawa, Abuja, was arraigned on a two-count charge bordering on concealment and abetment.

The defendant, however, pleaded not guilty to the charges.

The Prosecution counsel, Chinedu Ogada, told the court that the complainant, Theodora Francis, of Zone 7, Dutse Alhaji, Abuja, reported the matter at Dutse Alhaji Police Station on July 3.

The counsel alleged that on July 3, while the complainant was at her shop, Danjuma who is now at large, deceitfully requested for the complainant’s phone to make a call.

Ogada told the court that in the process, Danjuma criminally made away with the phone and gave it to the defendant to keep for him.

He alleged that during police investigation, Shukurana admitted to committing the offence which contravened the provisions of Sections 319 and 86 of the Penal Code.

The Presiding Judge, Umar Angulu, admitted the defendant to bail in the sum of N100, 000 with one surety in like sum.

Angulu ordered that the surety must be resident within the jurisdiction of the court with a reliable means of livelihood and an identity card, which must be verified by the court registrar.

The judge adjourned the matter until Nov.16 for hearing.
