Ogbuefi VOT Abanum has described the proposed national conference as “dead on arrival”. The respected retired CBN executive who spoke to the Ndokwa Reporters on burning issues affecting Nigeria and the people of Ndokwa says that the proposed National Conference by the Jonathan’s administration was a diversionary stance to remove the attention of Nigerians from the non performing posture of his administration. He queried the reason for such discourse when similar conferences had yielded no improvement do to non-implementation of resolutions reached.
Speaking on the possible presentation of the Ndokwa people on the National conference, he pointed out that the people need to solve the internal chronic problems affecting them. That is problem of always sending in the wrong persons to be their representatives. According to him, without this the voices and opinions of the Ndokwa people will never be held. He described the so called leaders as disappointing. That at all level none is representing the common good but personal good. To the Nigeria people, once the Ibo man from across the Niger had spoken, the Ndokwa voice had being held. So there will be no need thinking of going because such attitudes of selfishness and self-centeredness will still deprive the area of proper presentation.
Speaking further, he called for a gathering, like a conclave where the different organizations and groups will decide who should be the leader of the Ndokwa People. Because lack of good leadership had deprived the area of proper development and positions in the government, as it turned out to be on the recent appointment of the NDDC commissioner for Delta State. The exhorted position is to be for the Ndokwa People, being that they contribute more to the revenue of the state and had not occupied the position since inception. And while the people of Ndokwa were expecting the position, it was giving to the Urhobo’s. This had being done, and our so called leaders had refused to talk as they always do.
Ogbuefi Abanum also called on the leadership of NNU to be focused on Ndokwa Nation development, and avoid accepting government appointments. To him any person elected into the position of the presidency of Ndokwa National Union should not accept any political position but rather work tirelessly to see that the idea and dream of the Ndokwa People for good governance is achieved.
