The NNU Electoral Committee Releases Guidelines and Election Date

KWALE/Nigeria: In keeping to its words that election will be conducted into the now vacant offices of Social Cultural body of Ndokwa nation, the Ndokwa Neku Union, NNU, the Electoral Committee headed by Sir Ken Okolugbo, a onetime Commissioner Representing Ndokwa/Ukwuani on the board of the Delta State Oil Producing Areas Development Commission, DESOPADEC, has released the time table and guidelines for the conduct of the 2020 NNU election.

It could be recalled that the committee, which had been carrying out consultation since its constitution, both virtually and physically, because of the Novel Coronavirus pandemic promised to commence the process of the election once there is relaxation on the restriction imposed on Inter-State imposed to curb the COVID-19 pandemic in the country.

According to publication by the committee, signed by the Chairman, Sir Ken Okolugbo, and Secretary, Mr. Chris Uzoalu, the electoral process is expected to commence on July 13th 2020, and terminates on September 12th, 2020, with the registration and validation, renewal and registration exercise, which will starts on 14th July, 2020 and closes on 14th August, 2020, this will be for individuals, clubs, Associations, clan unions and branches of NNU.

The announcement further stated that collection of Expression of Interest and Nomination forms will also start on 14th day of July 2020, and end on 14th day of August 2020. It stated that those that are eligible to contest are financial members of the union, affiliated to any of the branches, registered clubs and associations, and delegates from any of the clans that is registered with the NNU.

It further stated that only those who collected, filled and returned the expression and nomination forms and fulfil the aforementioned conditions can contest. It went further to state that the expression and nomination forms varies in terms of financial obligation, as those who will be going to vie for the office of the President General is expected to collect forms with the sum of N150,000.00, First, Second President –Generals and Secretary-General, N50,000.00, Treasurer, N50,000.00, Assistant Secretary-General, Financial-Secretary, Legal Adviser, and the office of the Public Relation Officer will pay the sum of N25, 000.00 to collect form for the election. While that of Women Leader and Youth Leader will obtain their forms with the sum of N15, 000.00.

The statement stated that they are walking with the Article 24, of the amended 2019 NNU Constitution, and its expects personal members, clans, clubs, associations, unions and NNU branches to pay their annual fees to be eligible to take part in the election.

According to the document, the election which will hold on 12 September, 2020, at the Kwale Township Stadium, will kick-off by 9 am, with accreditation, which will end by 1pm, when the opening formalities is expected to begin, while the election proper which will be carried out by the electoral college that comprises, clubs, Associations, Groups, clans and clan Unions, NNU Trustees, and NNU Advisory Council will run from 2pm to 4pm, while the declaration of results and swearing in will be by 5pm.

The statement Advised interested Ndokwa Sons and daughters who are interested in any of the positions to collect their Expression of Interest and Nomination form from No 180, Umusadege Road, Kwale, Delta State, Obiaruku Mall, Opposite Samdef Filling Station, Obiaruku, Delta State, Ukwuani Foundation Union, Secretariat, and Ndoshimili foundation Union Secretariat, Lagos, and Plot 122 Gado Nasko Farm Road, off Lagos Crescent, Kubwa, Abuja.
