WARRI/Nigeria: A 3-man armed robbery gang that specializes in using keke (commercial tricycle) in carrying out their nefarious activities in Warri and Effurun met their waterloo as they were killed in gun battle with mobile policemen at Okumagba Estate area in Warri in the early evenings of Tuesday 18th September, 2018.
A source told our correspondent that the arm robbery suspects snatched the bag of a young lady containing her valuables at gun point at Okurode (Ekurede Urhobo) area in the presence of some mobile policemen who were in a bus belonging to a multinational company.
The eagle eye and patriotic mobile policemen decided to trail the suspected arm bandits to Okumagba Estate area where they wanted to carry out another operation but on sighting the mobile policemen, they were said to have fired the first shot that resulted to exchange of gun shots between the mobile policemen and the notorious arm robbery suspects.
Two of the armed robbery suspects fell to the superior marksmanship of the mobile policemen while the other one said to be the rider escaped with bullet wound in Otorere, the traditional headquarters of Okere Urhobo Kingdom where he was fished out by angry mob who gave him the beating of his life before setting him ablaze.
A police officer at Police B Divisional Headquarters, Warri, who pleaded anonymity confirmed the incident but referred our correspondent to Police Headquarters, Asaba for official confirmation.
The President of Okere Urhobo Development Movement, Comrade Cyril Eboh who commented on the incident warned criminals to relocate to other areas, saying that Okere Urhobo youths were very much prepared to assist the police to arrest criminals in the area.
He called on law abiding citizens in the area to go about their lawful duties without fear.
Meanwhile a clash between two rival street cultists has been causing sleepless nights to residents in Ogedegbe, Ereku, Obire, Sido, Iyara and the adjoining streets.
