ABUJA/Nigeria: Senator Ned Nwoko, representing Delta North Senatorial District in the National Assembly, has marked his third anniversary in the Senate with a review of his legislative accomplishments and constituency interventions, highlighting a record of lawmaking, infrastructure development, educational support and empowerment programmes across the district.
Reflecting on his three years in the 10th Senate, the lawmaker expressed gratitude to the people of Delta North for the confidence reposed in him, stating that his tenure has been driven by a commitment to effective representation, legislative innovation and the pursuit of sustainable development for his constituents.
In a statement commemorating the milestone, Nwoko said his office had remained focused on addressing both national and local challenges through strategic legislative initiatives and grassroots-oriented interventions.
According to him, he has sponsored 33 bills and 22 motions since assuming office, covering a wide range of issues aimed at promoting national development while advancing the interests of Delta North.
Among the key legislative proposals championed by the senator is the Constitutional Alteration Bill seeking the creation of Anioma State, a cause that has remained central to political discourse in Delta North and the wider South-South region.
He also highlighted efforts to restore Aniocha North Constituency II into the Independent National Electoral Commission’s (INEC) programme ahead of the 2027 elections, as well as the proposed upgrade of the Federal College of Education (Technical), Asaba, to the Federal University of Technology, Asaba.
Nwoko further identified his role in the passage of the Malaria Eradication and Vaccine Development legislation as one of the notable achievements of his tenure, describing it as a major step toward strengthening Nigeria’s healthcare system and tackling one of the country’s most persistent public health challenges.
Beyond his legislative responsibilities, the senator said he had prioritised grassroots development through various constituency projects and intervention programmes designed to improve the quality of life of residents across Delta North.
These interventions, according to him, include scholarship schemes, educational support programmes, healthcare initiatives, human capital development projects, youth and women empowerment programmes and the installation of solar-powered streetlights in several communities within the senatorial district.
The lawmaker maintained that public service should be assessed on the basis of measurable achievements and positive impact rather than political rhetoric and promises.
While acknowledging the progress made over the past three years, Nwoko said he remained aware of the enormous tasks that still lie ahead and pledged to continue working diligently to address the needs of his constituents.
“While much has been achieved, I remain conscious of the work that still lies ahead and committed to pursuing it with diligence, courage and purpose,” he stated.
The senator thanked the people of Delta North for their continued trust, support and cooperation, describing the achievements recorded during the period as a collective accomplishment made possible through partnership between his office and the people.
“The progress we celebrate today belongs to all of us,” he said.
Reaffirming his commitment to the district, Nwoko pledged to sustain efforts aimed at attracting more developmental projects, strengthening legislative advocacy and ensuring that the people of Delta North continue to enjoy the dividends of democratic governance.
As he marks three years in office, the senator said his focus remains on delivering impactful representation, promoting economic opportunities and advancing initiatives that will contribute to the long-term growth and prosperity of Delta North Senatorial District.
