KWALE/Nigeria: The newly elected Councillors in Ndokwa West Local Government Area have been sworn in with a call to place service to the people above personal consideration.
The Chairman of the Council, Hon. Ifeanyi Osakwe gave the charge in an address during the swearing in ceremony of the Councillors in Kwale.
While congratulating the Councillors on their victory at the polls and commending the people of the area for voting PDP in the January 6 local government election, Hon. Osakwe said that both the Executive and the Legislative Arms of Government would work in synergy in order to move the council forward.
The Chairman advised them to always work as a team to enable them legislate on issues that would bring development to the local government.
While subscribing to the relevant oaths administered by the Judge of the High Court Kwale, Hon. Justice V.I. Ofesi, the Councillors pledged to work for the overall development of the council and to shun acts that could undermine the laws establishing their office.
Speaking on behalf of the other Councillors, Hon. Okuepusu Christopher, representing ward two, assured the people that they would do their best in order to justify the trust and confidence reposed in them by the people of the area.
In its inaugural sitting, the Sixth Assembly of the Ndokwa West Legislature elected six principal officers through voice votes with Hon. Ndubisi Okoloafor emerging as the Leader and Hon. Monday Akpe as the Deputy Leader.
Others were Hon. Lucky Nzete, Majority Leader, Hon. Azubike Ejechi, Deputy Majority Leader, Hon. Chukwunalu Ozah, Chief Whip and Hon. Joy Obije, Deputy Chief Whip.
