EFFURUN/Nigeria: In a significant move aimed at addressing the deteriorating road conditions in Delta State, Tantita Security Services Nigeria Limited (TSSNL), under the leadership of Chief Government Ekpemupolo, popularly known as Tompolo, has commenced the repair of critical roads in Effurun, a vital commercial hub.
The decision, made in a May board meeting chaired by Tompolo, reflects the company’s concern for the state of local infrastructure and the hardships faced by road users and residents.
To execute this initiative, TSSNL has engaged a construction company to begin immediate repairs. The company’s sources indicated that this project is intended to support Governor Sheriff Oborevwori’s ongoing developmental efforts in the state. As part of this initiative, the roads in the Bendel Estate area of Effurun, the administrative center of Uvwie Local Government Area, have already been addressed.
Historically neglected by previous administrations, the roads in Bendel Estate, an upscale neighborhood, were notorious for their deep craters and potholes, particularly near the NNPC Junior Staff Club. This neglect had turned daily commutes into a nightmare for residents and visitors alike.
However, a recent visit to the area revealed a transformed landscape. The main road from Avweniyare Filling Station to the estate’s terminal point has been repaired and tarred, with adjoining roads also receiving attention. This development has been met with widespread relief and gratitude from motorists and residents.
“We are happy and joyful that Tompolo has come to our aid. We have been suffering over the years, spending all our earnings on repairs of our Keke,” said Ezekiel Akpofure, a local Keke NAPEP operator. “We now operate on smooth and well-tarred roads in Bendel Estate. We are happy and grateful to Chief Tompolo.”
Similarly, Seidu Abdullahi, another Keke NAPEP operator from Kano State, expressed his appreciation: “Initially, we thought the roads were being repaired by the government. We only got to know that Chief Tompolo asked his company to do this for us in Bendel Estate after much inquiry. We are so grateful for this rare show of humanity.”
Chief Julius Ogie, a resident, called on other wealthy citizens to emulate Tompolo’s public-spirited actions. “If all wealthy citizens behaved like Tompolo by being philanthropic, Nigeria would be a better place. We are indeed very grateful to Tompolo and pray for his continued good health and long life.”
Despite repeated attempts, TSSNL Managing Director Chief Keston Pondi did not respond to calls or text messages for confirmation. However, reliable sources close to the company verified Tantita’s involvement in the rehabilitation efforts.
“I can tell you that Tantita is responsible for the repair of the roads in Bendel Estate,” said a source preferring anonymity. “The board of Tantita decided to intervene to complement Governor Oborevwori’s vision for Delta State. This effort aligns with the M.O.R.E. Agenda of His Excellency, Governor Sheriff Oborevwori.”
The source emphasized Tantita’s commitment to promoting socio-economic and infrastructural development in the Niger Delta, stating, “We believe that all oil majors and indigenous firms should champion economic empowerment and practical interventions to improve livelihoods. Tantita is determined to continue supporting the communities where we operate and contribute to Nigeria’s overall economic prosperity.”
