SAPELE/Nigeria: An accident along New Ogorode road by Fovie Junction, Sapele, Delta State involving a trailer and a motorcycle, had claimed the lives of three.
It was learnt that the trailer suddenly left his lane to hit a motorcycle carrying a man and his son.
According to our correspondent, the motorcycle rider and the two passengers, an unidentified man and his son died on the spot.
It was gathered that after knocking them down, the trailer skidded into a nearby bush along the ever busy New Ogorode Road.
The driver of the trailer, report said, ran away but his conductor was apprehended.
Report also said that angry mob at the scene of the accident set the trailer ablaze and made away with bags of rice in the trailer.
Our correspondent reported that the quick response from security personnel, road safety officials and the men of the Delta State Fire Service helped to restore law and order.
The report said that the area of the accident was blocked to prevent vehicular movement while the road safety carried the corpses away.
The Nigerian Army personnel, according to the report, also helped to rescue the conductor of the trailer from the hands of the angry mobs and the fire service put out the fire which destroyed the front part of the trailer.
An eye witness, who preferred anonymity, said that the trailer was trying to avoid pot holes on the road when it lost control and ran into the motorcycle and called on the authorities to take step to mend pot holes on the express way, to prevent similar incident in the future.
