Transporters Jettison Covid-19 Protocols In Warri And Environs

WARRI/Nigeria: In spite of reports on spike in covid19 cases and possibility of another lockdown, commercial vehicle operator’s mostly commercial tricycle (keke) riders in Uvwie, Warri, Udu local government areas had jettisoned government directives on social distancing.
It was further observed that keke riders charged fares on social distancing while disobeying government directives on social distancing at as the time of filling this report.
It is not uncommon to see keke riders plying Enerhen Junction to Express Junction in Ovwian operating on five passengers per trip under the watchful eyes of government traffic warden and police men.
Besides, commercial vehicles, there was nothing to write home about on social distancing in all the markets monitored by our correspondent in Uvwie, Warri South and Udu local government areas as there was dense population of traders and traders trading for Christmas.
There was also low compliance on the directive on wearing of face masks by residents in the said local government areas in spite of the Federal Government law on face masks at as the time of filling this report.
