OREROKPE/Nigeria: Tricycle driver and his three passengers were lucky to be alive as they prevailed over a terrible accident that happened today, April 23 at Orerokpe Express Road, in Okpe Local Government Area of Delta State.
An eye witness who simply gave her name as Rachel, attested that she was standing beside the express, waiting to board a commercial vehicle to Eku Market when the accident happened.
She stated: “It was a clean Lexus saloon car, coming from Osubi that brushed and flung the tricycle from the road while it was overtaking under high speed.
“The tricycle somersaulted several times before it finally came to a halt.”
The tricycle was terribly damaged, while onlookers helped to drag out passengers and their belongings from the tricycle. Among the passengers was an old woman who was bleeding and shivering as a result of the incident.
A young lady who was among the accident victims, was shouting “my chest, my chest’ but didn’t sustain any injury.
The driver and the third passenger victims seemed okay as they were both helping to calm the bleeding old woman.
Officers of the Nigeria Road Safety Commission who were on patrol, were swift to take all victims to a nearby clinic along the Orerokpe Express Road.
