WARRI/Nigeria: Landlords and residents in two compounds in Giwa Amu Road, Off Okere Ugberikoko Road, Okumagba Layout, Warri in the late evening of Monday April 29th2019 were burnt by a bus that reportedly went in flames for conveying illegal refined diesel.
One of the affected landlords, Chief Matthew Shaire who spoke to our correspondents today, alleged that the bus was shot by government security agents on patrol and who were on the hot chase of the bus.
Chief Shaire who advised government security agents to use better civilized ways in apprehending suspects, appealed for assistance for the renovation of his compound, saying that it would require a lot of money.
On his part, one of the victims of the incident who owns a plaza, simply identified as Mr Akeem corroborated the allegations of Chief Oshaire just as he lamented that he lost over ten million naira from the inferno.
It was alleged that when men of the fire service department of the SPDC were called for assistance, they complained that they did not get order from Port Harcourt.
Similarly, it was alleged that when men of Delta State Fire Service Department were called for assistance, they also complained that their vehicles were out of use.
Children were seen scooping diesel from the nearby gutters when our correspondents arrived the scene of incident.
