
KWALE/Nigeria: The member representing Ndokwa/Ukwuani Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives, Rt. Hon. Nnamdi Ezechi, has reflected on his two years in office, describing the period as one of gratitude, accountability, and renewed dedication to the people who entrusted him with their mandate. Ezechi, who was inaugurated on June 13, 2023, alongside 359 other lawmakers, noted that his legislative efforts and constituency interventions have been focused on uplifting the lives of his constituents.
In the area of education, Ezechi highlighted the construction and furnishing of classroom blocks with toilet facilities at Egboma Mixed Secondary School, Akoku Uno; Oluchi Primary School, Okpai; and Mixed Secondary School, Onicha Ukwuani. He added that laptops were distributed to selected public secondary schools to enhance digital literacy among students. He further disclosed that similar projects are slated for this year at Ebologu Grammar School, Utagba-Uno; Ethiope Primary School, Obiaruku; Oduga Secondary School, Ushie; and Onuaboh Secondary School, Onuaboh.
On healthcare, Ezechi revealed that through his intervention, the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC) has approved and budgeted for the construction and furnishing of a primary healthcare centre at Utchi clan in Ndokwa East Local Government Area. He announced plans for free medical outreach programmes targeting the elderly in rural communities across the constituency.
The federal lawmaker also pointed to youth empowerment efforts, stating that hundreds of young people have been trained in various trades and provided with financial grants, in collaboration with federal agencies, to support small business creation. Additionally, 30 constituents have so far benefited from the federal government’s Renewed Hope Employment Initiative, with more expected to benefit before year-end.
Ezechi underscored his commitment to the electrification of Ndokwa communities, describing it as a cornerstone of his legislative agenda. He reaffirmed that the completion of the long-delayed Independent Power Plant (IPP) Phase 2 project in Okpai remains a top priority for him and the entire Ndokwa nation.
On infrastructure, Ezechi announced that his efforts have led to the award of the contract for the reconstruction of the collapsed Asaba-Ase – Uzere bridge in Ndokwa East, with the contractor already mobilised to site. He also noted the completion of the Azunze Market project in Kwale and the installation of solar-powered streetlights in communities such as Utagba-Uno, Emu Obodoeti, Okpai, and Ossissa, with plans to extend the initiative to Aboh, Ezionum, Utagba-Ogbe, Ibrede, and Onogbokor in the near future.
Ezechi thanked his constituents for their continued support, pledging to sustain the momentum in delivering the dividends of democracy to Ndokwa/Ukwuani Federal Constituency.
