UBULU-UKU/Nigeria: In a rare display of cross-party unity and grassroots endorsement, leaders and members of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Ward 5, Ubulu-Uku, have declared unwavering support for Senator Ned Munir Nwoko, describing him as the political backbone of the community and a symbol of effective and inclusive representation in Delta North.
The declaration was made during a well-attended ward meeting held on Saturday, June 7, 2025, at the residence of the ward’s political leader, Prince Fred Mordi, where party leaders, new members, and stakeholders converged to reaffirm their trust in the Senator’s leadership.
Representing Senator Nwoko at the gathering was his Deputy Chief of Staff and fellow ward member, Mr. Chiedu Abili, who conveyed the Senator’s goodwill message and appreciation for the ward’s continued support. Abili emphasized that Ubulu-Uku holds a special place in the Senator’s heart and is central to his development vision.
“Ubulu is not just a constituency; it is home,” Abili stated. “The Senator is deeply aware of the challenges here and is actively working on solutions to improve lives and secure lasting progress for our people.”
In a major political shift, the ward meeting also witnessed the defection of new members from other political parties, particularly the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), into the APC fold. Abili welcomed the new entrants, describing the move as a realignment of values and vision consistent with Senator Nwoko’s inclusive political style.
“This is not mere defection—it is a strategic alignment,” Abili noted. “We urge all members, new and old, to fully participate in the ongoing APC membership registration and revalidation exercise to strengthen our political presence.”
The meeting also delved into issues of national and regional significance, particularly the Anioma State Creation Bill (SB. 481), which is championed by Senator Nwoko and scheduled for public hearing in Uyo, Akwa Ibom State, on July 4–5, 2025. Abili underscored the importance of the bill, urging Ward 5 members to support the process wholeheartedly.
“This is about identity and the legacy we want to leave behind,” he said. “Anioma must speak with one voice. The Senator is leading the charge, and we must walk with him.”
Addressing the recent concerns over local security, Abili relayed Senator Nwoko’s appeal for the unification of vigilante structures in Ubulu-Uku to ensure effective intervention and support. He stressed that disjointed security arrangements make coordination difficult and hinder meaningful assistance from the Senator’s office.
“For effective support, there must be structure. The Senator is ready to intervene, but unity among local security outfits is key,” he explained.
In a high point of the meeting, Abili announced three major federal projects secured for Ubulu-Uku under the 2025 Appropriation Act through Senator Nwoko’s intervention. These include:
Channelization and erosion control along the Onicha-Ugbo/Ubulu-Uku road to safeguard lives and property;
Construction of an Akwa Ocha textile factory to create jobs, empower women, and preserve the Anioma cultural heritage;
Installation of solar-powered streetlights across strategic locations in the town to enhance nighttime safety and stimulate the local economy.
Host of the meeting, Prince Fred Mordi, praised Senator Nwoko’s performance and inclusive approach to governance, describing him as one of the few leaders who understand that real power lies with the people.
“Our Distinguished Senator has not only remembered us, he has brought us along in every plan and policy,” Mordi said. “He listens, he delivers, and he leads with vision.”
The endorsement by Ward 5 APC stakeholders, despite Delta North’s traditionally multi-party political landscape, marks a significant boost to Senator Nwoko’s growing political stature. It highlights his expanding appeal across party lines and reinforces his reputation as a development-focused lawmaker driven by unity and results.
As momentum builds around the Anioma agenda and the 2027 political landscape begins to take shape, Senator Ned Nwoko appears to be consolidating both institutional and grassroots support, proof that vision, delivery, and inclusivity remain the most enduring currencies in Nigerian politics.
