SAPELE/Nigeria: The former Governor of Delta State, Dr Emmanuel Uduaghan, has called on the people of Okpe Kingdom, comprising of Okpe and Sapele Local Government Areas to support their son, the Governorship Candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP and Speaker of the Delta State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon Sheriff Oborevwori in the forthcoming election.
The former Governor made the call on Thursday, January 12, 2023, during the continuation of the PDP Local Government to Local campaign, in a rally held in Sapele Stadium and at Adane-Okpe Primary School premises in Orerokpe.
Dr. Uduaghan while addressing party faithful and supporters, said the choice of Sheriff Oborevwori is a good choice for the State, and he should be supported by all and sundry, especially those from the Okpe Kingdom, where the candidate hailed from.
He described Oborevwori as someone who is loyal, and accessible to all, with much credibility to govern the State, and it will be a thing of shame if the people of Okpe refuses to give him all the necessary support to win the election.
“We as a people have no alternative, but to vote for our own, your own, and son, Sheriff Oborevwori at the polls in March 2023. It will be a thing of shame on us for not doing so.”
While calling for the voting for all the PDP candidates during the elections, he frowned at the state of electricity supply within the area, especially Sapele, where there are two major power plants. And said that this issue, as a former Governor of the State, he is much aware of, as the lack of proper representatives at the Federal Government level, deprives the State of the basic needs of life.

“As you know, there are two Electricity Power Plants in this area, but we are not benefitting from them. As a former Governor of the State, I know all that happens.
“For us to solve some of these problems, we must send our own to Abuja to represent us. We must vote for the Atiku-Okowa ticket to allow Governor Ifeanyi Okowa to be there, as the Vice-President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria. When he is elected, I know him, he will represent us very well, as most of these Federal-related issues will be resolved.”
“Not only the Electricity Supply but there is the issue of the ports, the Sapele port, I know what is happening. But for today, let’s not talk about that.” He said.
On his part, the Governor of Delta State and Vice-Presidential Candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Senator, Dr. Ifeanyi Okowa, said the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) and the Federal Government, has supervised the collapse of its roads in the State through deliberate neglect and abandonment, making reference to the roads from Benin to Warri, Sapele to Agbor, and other Federal roads.
The Governor while wondering why the Government allowed such to happen to the Federal roads, he was more shocked to see that the APC Governorship Candidate, Senator Ovie Omo-Agege, could not make use of his office to attract development to the State.
‘The Benin-Warri, Sapele-Agbor, and other Federal roads are all impassable yet we have a son as Deputy President of the Senate. He couldn’t lobby the Government to reconstruct roads in the State, yet he wants to be Governor.”
On their part, the leaders of the party in the area thanked the PDP and Governor Okowa for their support to govern the State. Those who spoke were Chief Charles Ufuoma Obule, the member Representing the Sapele State Constituency, Hon. Felix Anira, Chief Efe Afe, Chief Austin Ayemidajor, and Chief Ejaife Odebale.
Others who spoke were the Deputy Governor of the State, Barr. Kingsley Otuaro, the Chairman of the party, Chief Kingsley Esiso, and the PDP State Campaign Director, Rt. Hon Funkekeme Solomon.
