A onetime Special Adviser to the Presidency, and member of the advisory committee on peace to the Governor, Dr Ifeanyi Okowa, Dame Esther Uduehi has called for a united force among the political office holders from Ndokwa nation.
Dame Uduehi made the call at an inter-denominational thanksgiving service for appointed and elected political office holders of Ndokwa extraction held at Obiaruku, the administrative headquarters of Ukwuani LGA, Delta State.
Uduehi, expressed her appreciation to the state governor, Senator Ifeanyi Okowa for the appointment of over 40 political office holders saddled with various responsibilities of moving the state forward, and said the he will not be disappointed for the opportunity giving to the Ndokwa people to server in his government.
She emphasized that the Ndokwa nation had, had its fair share under the Okowa leadership and called on the sons and daughters of the land to support the leadership in order to move the state and the Ndokwa nation forward.
Dame Uduehi, said there was need to hold regular meetings between all appointed and elected political office holders in the area, in order to derive the dividend of democracy to the people.
In his sermon, the bishop of Anglican Communion, Diocese of Ndokwa, Bishop David Obiosa called on the political officer holders to be thankful to God for the opportunity giving to them to serve their people.
He emphasized that the people’s expectations were high and called on them to be accountable to the people they serve.
The clergy prayed God to sustain and keep them throughout their tenure so they would have something to show for it, for God to use them same way he used Moses to bring the people to the Promised Land.
The first reading was taken by, the Delta State Commissioner Water Resources, Chief Fidelis Okenmor Tillije, while the Vice Chairman Ukwuani LGA Dr. Kingsley Ojieh took the second reading.
The highlight of the ceremony was prayer for the political office holders, as well as for Nigeria, the state and Ndokwa nation.
Others who spoke during the occasion were saw it as a good event to propel the development of Ndokwa nation, as it will bring the platform of all elected and political appointees to work in unity
