The Ukwuani Foundation Union (UFU) has called on all Ndokwa/Ukwuani sons and daughters to proudly speak Ukwuani language and celebrate Ndokwa cultural heritage in order for the language and culture of the Ukwuani people not to go into extinction.
This call was made by the President-General, Ukwuani Foundation Union (UFU), High Chief Joseph Olise during the 80th Anniversary lecture of the organization held at the Anglican Church Hall, Utagba-Ogbe, Kwale. He stated that UFU was pained when they discovered that Ukwuani language was among the 13 Nigerian Languages that will go into extinction by 2030 according to a study conducted by the United Nations.
High Chief Joseph noted that the average Ukwuani man no longer speak Ukwuani language all in the name of civilization.
Meanwhile, Dr Godwin Ossai, one of the resource persons who lectured on “Political Economy and Development Challenges of Ethnic Nationalities” lamented the underdeveloped and retrogressive state of Ndokwa Nation in Nigeria, Delta State and even in Delta North.
Dr Godwin stated that amongst other things, fear, the system syndrome, poor political foundation, poverty, lack of will are the problems besieging the Ndokwa/Ukwuani people.
He noted that for Ndokwa Nation to be emancipated from their current state, they must be interested in politics; learn to listen, plan and organize themselves.
“To be politically relevant in Delta State and in Nigeria, the Ndokwa man must be interested in politics, plan, listen and organize strategically. We must rediscover our consciousness – form a grand coalition, have a common goal and strive to remain united,” he added.
Dr Vincent Ojeh told the people that the issue of climate change is real, and they must understand its impact on the people and their environment and how the reality of climate change can be managed by the common Ndokwa man.
On his part, the National President-General, Anioma Youth Council (AYC) worldwide also reiterated the need for Ndokwa Youths to always speak Ukwuani language without shame even as he called on Ndokwa nation to work together in unity because according to him, “if we are united as a people there is nothing we cannot achieve,” he stated.
